Viaggio Allucinogeno Nº 3: Armando Piazza "Suan"
This is the final part of this Psychedelic Italian Tryptich...another very rare and obscure record by a bit of a mysterious character, at least for me!
"Suan" is a very different record and came out in 1972 but apparently even then it wasn't easy to find since it was either sold at concerts or by mail.
Armando Piazza was a songwriter from Naples and he's joined here by Shawn Phillips who was living around there at the time.
Shawn, that among other things played in Donovan's best records from 1966-67, is playing bass and some guitar in this album.
It is mainly acoustic with bursts of fuzz guitar, check the spooky "The House on the hill"...it reminds me a little bit of Jake Holmes.
A second album with the backwards title of "Nuas" came out, it's not bad, more people are involved in it and it has some good tracks but overall I think it is inferior to "Suan".
Tracklist
01 Going into the sunset
02 Birds
03 In the station
04 The house on the hill
05 I met a woman
06 My friend
07 Harmony

UPDATE! (June 03)
Please note that thanks to some vital information I just received, I now discovered that the above tracklist is the one "put together" by Akarma that reissued both albums on one CD, the actual REAL running order is found in the comments!

Thanks for all that italian psych! Great stuff!
I can't tell you how pleased I am that each year more and more people are finding out this gem. It's actually in my top 10 favorite albums of all time!
I want to note: For whatever reason, the Akarma reissue messed up the running order to side one. As I own an original copy of the LP, I know this is a fact! :D It's supposed to be:
In the Station
The House on the Hill
Going Into the Sunset
Spread the word, people!
Thanks for that last comment...does it mean then that the album opens with "Birds"?
How annoying they changed the running order!
MY BAD! I should have posted the entire true tracklist. I have no idea why they would do such a thing as to mess around with the song order.
SIDE A:
In the Station
The House on the Hill
Going Into the Sunset
SIDE B:
Birds
I Met a Woman
My Friend
Harmony
I've been listening to SUAN with the correct tracklist and I have to say it: I prefer it!
No point in re-posting it though, anyone can just change the number of the tracks...in fact, DO IT!
You'll find that the first 3 tracks (side 1 on the LP) are those with the great fuzz bursts while side 2 is the quieter one...
Thanks again to "forego..."!
Hello
I have just noticed your discussion regarding the Suan track listing and i can assure you that the original B.B.B.record 1972issue has the SAME track order as the Akarma CD...7 tracks(4 on the first side starting with Going into the sunset etc.and 3 on the second side starting with I met a woman etc.).I don't know where forego found his track listing, but for sure this is not the one featured on the original LP.
Hi "anonymous" from last comment,
forego claims to own an original copy of the album...so far I could not double check his information and I hust trusted his comment...now, I'm left wondering...???
Do you have an original LP???
The printed track order inside the sleeve of the album does NOT match the tracklisting ON THE LABELS OF THE LP. That's why there's confusion.
Dear Aldo
If the track listing order written on the inside gatefold cover of the original album is different than the order that really exists,i pass.I have in my hands an original cover(with the double fold out insert with the lyrics),but without the vinyl,so i cannot be 100% sure of what's going on....in any case this is very strange, and i am very curious for the reason that this happened.
Hello to all of you!
There is a great vinyl lp reissue-exact repro of the original by Missing Vinyl Records.
Fantastic work, fantastic album!
Cheers,
George
Hi George,
what can you tell us about the tracklist...we had a dilemma, seen the previous comments?
thanks.
Hola Aldo:
